IN MARCH 2024, WE IDENTIFIED ANOTHER LOCAL PROJECT THAT WAS IN NEED OF SOME TLC.
The boundary wall of the Co-op store on the Iffley Road, Oxford was a repeated target for graffiti and tagging. We saw this an opportunity to make a transformation and create an amazing mural that reflects the hustle and bustle of the local area.
Local artist “LisaMadeIt” took her inspiration from the local community and the active lifestyles of the residents, with standout features including a scootering dog, people enjoying skateboarding and rollerblading, and a girl performing a handstand.
Your Co-op Food store manager, Haidar-Ali Bokhari, said: “It’s been fantastic having Lisa and the team at Boundary Brook Community
Projects paint their latest piece of art bringing Lisa’s signature bright colours and fun, as well as a sense of community pride to Iffley Road.
“The work they have done in the area has transformed local spaces into vibrant and welcoming places to be enjoyed by all, and all of us at the store feel proud to be a part of this installation. We hope it will bring a smile to our customers faces and inspire budding artists in the area every time they pay us a visit!”
Boundary Brook Community Projects volunteer, Dawn Weller, said: “It has been a pleasure to work on this mural for the Your Co-op Food store, it has been very well received by the local residents who feel it represents the uniqueness of our area and fosters a great sense of community spirit.”
